PTXM: The Language of Palestinian Embroidery with Wafa Ghnaim

Palestinian researcher, author and teacher Wafa Ghnaim will be presenting a history of storytelling in Palestinian embroidery, including a cross-stitching master class and stitching circle where participants can learn, practice, and discuss the art to connect with their heritage and preserve the craft for future generations. Also, on display as part of the event, there will be historic Palestinian textiles from the Andrea Aranow collection at Textile Hive, along with textiles from Wafa’s personal collection, to honor the important traditions that will be carried forward through this community gathering.

Schedule

12:00-1:30pm: Lecture: Palestinian Embodiment Through Adornment & Dress, Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries

1:30-1:45pm: Break for questions and discussion

1:45-3:00pm: Master Class (registration required) Palestinian Fellahi Embroidery Technique

3:00-4:00pm: Stitching Circle and Discussion, Reflections, Creations
