NW Marine Artworks 3rd Annual Open Studios Event

NW MARINE ART WORKS 3rd ANNUAL OPEN STUDIOS EVENT
Saturday, July 20th from 2 - 8 PM

The public is invited on Saturday, July 20th from 2pm to 8pm to NW Marine Art Works, 2516 NW 29th for our annual summer Open Studios Event. This unique event showcases some of Portland’s most innovative artists and artisans.

The NW Marine Art Works, a Ken Unkeles project, hosts 75 art studios and 100 plus artists in residence; working in painting, ceramics, photography, sculpture, dance, theatre, crafts, jewelry, textiles, wood and metal working.

Visiting artists from other Unkeles family art studio buildings including The North Coast Seed Building, River St. Studios and the Carton Service Building will be taking up temporary residence, demonstrating the creative range of the best Portland art and craft offer.

Come to enjoy live music, food carts, and nearby businesses in lower Montgomery Park will join in supplying food, drink and fun including: Sasquatch Brewery, Boedecker Cellars, Equal Exchange and Freeland Spirits.

Families with train lovers of all ages will be able to go across the street to Staver Locomotive and watch the model trains steam around the property, play putt putt golf, corn hole and create their own wonders at the kid’s painting table.

Decades old artist studio buildings: The Troy Laundry, Towne Storage and the B&O Warehouse, have all recently given way to non-art space redevelopment. This makes NW Marine Art Works and the other artist buildings even more unique and precious to Portland’s cultural health. With this annual event, we aim to raise awareness and provide the public the opportunity to see, celebrate and interact with our region’s artists in their studio environments.

This is not a fundraising event, it is an art community conscientiousness-raising event. There will be art for sale, but what we’re really peddling is imagination, creativity and those unique qualities which make the Portland Art scene vibrant and worthy of our support.
