An oyster is a living memory, its body operating as a portrait of everything that happened during its existence. Just like the human form, it is a statement of a life, the large difference being that the oyster serves as a testimony of a specific place and everything that happens around it.
As soon as we are born, a human life uses natural resources to evolve. The opposite happens with the oyster, it exists in a limbo between life and death, filtering the oceans and rivers in search of resources for survival.
Umwelt will focus on the parallels of these two forms in order to reflect on our current moment, our challenges, and our existence.
Opening Reception: March 6th, 2020, 6 - 9pm

We value in-person art experiences and want to proceed with reopening safely. Due to covid19 we will be limiting the number of guests allowed in the gallery at one time. Masks will be required inside as well as common spaces outside the building. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We are excited to see you again!
