EXHIBITION INFORMATION
Spaghetti dinner at the cartographer’s convention. This show will bring together Low-Residency MFA candidate Abney Wallace and his mentor Christian Brown. The student/mentor relationship is one of the principal aspects of the Low-Residency MFA. In a best-case scenario, this relationship enriches and promotes growth for both participants. This exhibition’s overall concept is to highlight the student/mentor relationship as an asset to the studio practice of both. As both artists independently pursue building bodies of work, how do their conversations inform studio choice making and direction? What connections do they make when working independently? This relationship has the potential of being more than what it may appear.
Both artists exist on different paths. It is their conversations that unite them. Through these conversations, it may be possible to find a connection in the works shown. This is yet to be determined.
