Director Park Live Paint Off - Submit

30 local artists will be selected by a jury to compete in the live painting event. Competing artists will paint throughout the day Thursday, August 24th and Friday, August 25th. A panel of judges will select winners and hold an awards ceremony the morning of Saturday, August 26th.

The launch of this groundbreaking event kicks off a weekend of art and culture in Portland, coinciding with opening weekend of the Converge 45 Biennial, a city-wide contemporary art biennial taking place at over 17 museums, galleries, and art centers across the city.

This community activation at the newly rededicated Director Park invites downtown workers, residents, and visitors alike to watch 30 of the city’s most talented artists create artworks in real time! A panel of local art world leaders will present over $16,000 in cash prizes including a people’s choice award decided by a public vote.

The Senior Experience Designer - Environmental Experiences designs exhibitry and experiences for permanent and traveling exhibits focusing on 3D (the primary tool used is a combination of 3D CAD software). Work is done in collaboration with exhibit developers and graphic designers and under the direction of the Experience Design Manager and Creative Director.

We are looking for applicants with proficiency in CAD (3D Design) workflow from design through manufacturing and the ability to take concepts from sketch to reality with prototype fabrication. The position is regular, full-time, and pays $62,310 per year.

Guest Creative Director Role

Guest Creative Director Role

Third Angle is launching a new program where we will have a Guest Creative Director develop one of our shows each season.  This Guest Creative Director Role is an open call for artists in all modalities to submit proposals.  I have attached the full call to this email and am sharing this with you to both consider for yourself as well as to help us get the word out and share this opportunity with your communities.

  Here is a brief overview:

  • Guest Creative Director will be given a $5,000 stipend with a $15,000 production budget 

  • The proposed performance must be rooted in a sonic experience and must be a new work

  • The proposal must included some sort of ticketed performance (sound installation proposals etc are welcome, but must have some sort of activation/performance element that can be ticketed)

  • Performance will take place between August 2024 and June 2025 in Portland Metro area

  • Applicants do not need to reside in the Portland metro area for the duration of the project; however travel will be a necessity and candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility of schedule and travel expenses must be included in the production budget.

  • Deadline to submit is July 31, 2023 5pm PST
