We stand with Black Lives Matter
We need real systemic change in how our society operates in terms of race.
We need an end to police brutality, specifically to Black men and women.
We need police reform and defunding of police departments in Oregon & nationwide.
Art & About has always been and will be an art blog, we're not a social justice platform, but we needed to take a moment to acknowledge what is happening in our city, our country, and in the world right now. Please visit and support the many incredible social justice platforms we’ve linked below that have been doing the work.
We acknowledge we can do better at showcasing Black and POC artists on our platform, in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. We also acknowledge we can help voice these concerns to our community and the art spaces we visit, and encourage them to show more BIPOC artists, not just now, but always. We pledge to make a better effort in our own lives; as this platform is run by a cis White women; and as an organization. We will continue to make an effort, donate, protest, continued activism, not just now, but always.
