Secrets at Private Places coincides with Revelation Theater, an exhibition opening at Chicken Coop Contemporary from 2—6 PM on Sunday the 28th. Both exhibitions are part of Endings, an exhibition of work by Srijon Chowdhury and Bobbi Woods at the Art Gym, Portland, Oregon.
ARTIST INFORMATION
Katie Aliprando (b. 1983) received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2006 and her MFA from the University of California Los Angeles in 2010. Recent exhibitions include DXIX Projects, Ms Barbers, Ich Bin Ein Junge and Park View, Los Angeles; Balice Hertling at the Film Center and MoMA PS1, New York; Night Club, Chicago; The Vanity Bakersfield; 2nd Cannons Publications, 356 S. Mission Rd, LAXART, Night Gallery, Thomas Duncan (with P&Co.), and Actual Size (curated by Amanda Hunt), Los Angeles. The artist lives and works in Los Angeles.
Aline Cautis was born in 1975 in New York and has lived in Los Angeles since 2012. Solo exhibitions include No, Not, Regards Gallery, Chicago; something for/from everyone, Sabot Gallery and Escape Strategies, Saturday Cinema, Chicago. Sonja Gerdes was born in 1979 in Germany. She studied at the University of the Arts in Berlin, and from 2007-2013, co-ran the Berlin-based artist run space, Infernoesque. Lia Lowenthal (b. 1984) is an artist based in Brooklyn. She received her MFA at the Milton Avery Graduate School for the Arts at Bard College in 2014. In March 2018, she will be Artist in Residence at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Also in 2018, she will present three permanent installations at the Freehand Hotel in New York City. In 2017, she held a solo exhibition at Richard Telles Fine Art (Los Angeles), and has recently exhibited at Socrates Sculpture Park (New York), Southfirst (New York), Night Gallery (Los Angeles), Cleopatra’s (New York), Swiss Institute (New York), and Art in General (New York). Her work has been written about in Hyperallergic, The New Yorker, and Paletten Magazine. Lowenthal is also the founder and principal at LL, LLC, a conceptually-driven design company.
