We’re excited to share Falling Through the Spiral, a new group exhibition curated by Art & About founder Ashley Gifford, opening July 31 at Good Luck Gallery in Kalispell, Montana. Featuring work by Anya Roberts-Toney, Claire Elliott, Melissa Monroe, Claiborne Colombo, and Tessa Heck, Falling Through the Spiral explores the ways identity, creativity, and personal transformation evolve across different seasons of life. Through painting, sculpture, mixed media, and an original poem by Morgan Ritter, the exhibition reflects on the nonlinear paths that shape both artistic practice and the self. What draws us to this exhibition is the work created in the in-between moments—the hours carved out between responsibilities, the ideas developed during quiet pauses, and the creative practice that persists alongside the rhythms of daily life. These artists offer perspectives on making work amid constant change, finding space for reflection and expression within lives that are simultaneously demanding, meaningful, and deeply interconnected. While each artist brings a distinct visual language, together their works examine themes of memory, care, resilience, labor, and becoming. The result is an exhibition that feels both intimate and universal, speaking to anyone who has experienced the ways life continually asks us to adapt, create, and rediscover ourselves. In a culture that often treats creativity as something separate from everyday experience, Falling Through the Spiral reminds us that some of the most compelling artistic work emerges directly from it. These works are rooted in lived experience, revealing how the creative process can persist—and even flourish—within the complexity of everyday life.
