Artist Talk - March 24, 2024
Gallery Hours: Wed-Sat 11-5:30 pm & Sun 11-4 pm
This March, Waterstone is excited to welcome figurative painter Ruth Hunter to the gallery. Of Heart And Hand is an exhibition of Ruth’s newest works. Employing her skills of combining color and mark making, she depicts an emotionally charged response to the Pacific Northwest. Under surfaces that are heavily worked, there is a narrative that evokes human connection. Ruth paints in a style that is rooted in 20th Century Modernism and compares favorably to the Bay Area Figurative Painters of the 1960’s.
Ruth Hunter has been a working artist for more than three decades. Having grown up in the rolling prairie lands of East Texas, she formed a deep connection to her natural surroundings. In 2017, Ruth sought refuge in the Pacific Northwest after being displaced by one too many hurricanes.
