Internationally renowned filmmaker and costume designer Fuchsia Lin will be leading this community-focused event that offers something for everyone: a fun and exciting mask-making workshop for children 8+ and their parents, as well as a larger collaborative mask-making project that will be embellished by the community over the course of the festival, plus a presentation of some of her costume work and a screening of clips from the film “Future Cosmos”
Additionally, Anne Greenwood and visiting Icelandic textile and book artists will showcase their one-of-a-kind and editioned handmade books; they will also be sharing their unique textile techniques in short demonstrations. An exhibit of these works, Threads | Þræðir – Intertwined in Iceland: Textiles and Book Arts, is up at Nordic Cultural House and runs through November 5th.
All events and workshops are FREE.

The Interlaced Communities events during PTXM were created to showcase the rich tapestry of people, culture, and tradition that make the Pacific Northwest and Portland so dynamic. Collaborating with artists, makers, businesses, schools, and cultural organizations to celebrate the richness and diversity of the Portland textile community is the mission of Portland TextileX Month. This event is made possible by generous funding from Portland Events and Film and Prosper Portland.
