ink like hair

in the soup of the day

may i exchange it

for the salad of the evening?

thousand island dressing

nestled between green beans

in a ramekin from the vatican

looks like the blood cell

from a harlequin

with ink like hair

how about sliders for the table?

the table is hungry and immobile

like a riddle without an answer or

an empty room

in a tower of sable

brushes the clouds

with ink like hair

initial the bill

no space for dessert

how much to tip?

fifteen to twenty percent i assert

move the decimal over and times it by two

make sure the waitstaff see you

sign your embarrassed curly Q

so they know you’re a waiter too
