Anne Meyer and Aremy Stewart , To Have A Friend Takes Time

  • After/Time Gallery 707 NE Broadway UNIT 205, Portland, OR 97232 Portland, OR (map)

After/Time Gallery is pleased to present the work of Anne Meyer and Aremy Stewart in an exhibition celebrating female friendship and collaboration.

In, To Have A Friend Takes Time, Meyer and Stewart add play to the process of art-making by setting rules for themselves. By picking 3 colors of cloth to each base a piece of artwork on, the resulting textile and painting sets create a dynamic conversation that echoes the relationship of the two artists, who became friends as teens.

Anne Meyer works in various mediums including ceramics, textiles, drawing and painting. Her work explores place-based making and a lifelong love of the human figure. Anne’s art has been shown at the Elmhurst Art Museum, the Rourke Art Museum, the Art Complex Museum, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts and in Japan. She spent the last decade converting the family farm where she grew up into community art space to teach and create from in central Minnesota.

Aremy Stewart is a visual artist and painter. Color is her love language and art is the way she builds a place for herself in the world. Stewart's exhibition history & collaborations include The Stephanie Chefas Projects Gallery, Zinc Contemporary Gallery, Cloudforest, Southside Gallery and Juxtapose Magazine. Aremy has shown internationally in Japan, Iceland, The Netherlands, Italy, and her work is held in private collections around the world. She lives in Portland, OR
