First Thursday reception: November 3, 5-8pm
Froelick Gallery is proud to welcome back Emma Gerigscott for her third solo show with us titled, For The Love Of Duck. This exhibition is an expression of exasperation. Gerigscott explores the sweet moments of interaction between living creatures, humans, horses, dogs, goats and of course, ducks. Most known for her effortless figures and gestures, this body of work is full of Gerigscotts latest explorations. For The Love Of Duck is an all-encompassing exhibition of Gerigscotts vibrant imagination, storytelling, joy and humor.
A mouth full of color, with tastes of bold yellows, soft pinks, vibrant hues of blue and striking magenta come forth with mini stories, all painted on aluminum plates. Alongside those paintings are two large free-standing diptychs, a medium not before explored by Gerigscott. Additionally, 4 monumental sized linen quilts, hand-dyed and hand sewn by the artist.
Emma Gerigscott received her M.F.A. from the Oregon College of Art and Craft in 2018. Before moving to Portland she studied at Goshen College in Goshen, IN where she was born and raised. Emma grew up riding horses and raising ducks and goats, and currently lives with her old farm dog, Pi. She has shown work and illustrated for a variety of publications since receiving her B.A. in 2014. Emma lives and works in Portland, OR.
