Jordan Director Schnitzer and the Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation present the first annual Director Park Live Paint Off! Continuing the legacy of the Director and Schnitzer families as champions of Portland, the Director Park Live Paint Off acts as a catalyst of change at the epicenter of Downtown Portland’s revitalization.
Join us August 24th through 26th for this first annual competitive, live painting event at Director Park to celebrate art, culture, and community engagement! The Director Park Live Paint Off will showcase the incredible talent of Portland’s artist community while providing economic opportunity and advancement for the artists. This community activation at the newly rededicated Director Park invites downtown workers, residents, and visitors alike to watch 30 of the city’s most talented artists create artworks in real time! A panel of local art world leaders will present over $16,000 in cash prizes including a people’s choice award decided by a public vote.
The launch of this groundbreaking event kicks off a weekend of art and culture in Portland, coinciding with opening weekend of the Converge 45 Biennial, a city-wide contemporary art biennial taking place at over 17 museums, galleries, and art centers across the city.
Event Details
30 local artists will be selected by a jury to compete in the live painting event. Competing artists will paint throughout the day Thursday, August 24th and Friday, August 25th. A panel of judges will select winners and hold an awards ceremony the morning of Saturday, August 26th.
