A conversation with Libby Werbel, Stephanie Syjuco, Stephanie Parrish and Works Progress Agency, as we discuss how social practice artworks fit into the larger arts ecosystem.

Using Stephanie Syjuco’s notMoMA project as a touchstone, participants will share their experiences around creating, acquiring, and activating a social practice artwork. How can this type of work broaden the ways we think about art and how can institutions support artistic authorship that prioritizes social engagement? There will be dedicated time for audience questions, as well as light refreshments.

ABOUT CIRCLE TALKS at c:3

Part of our summer Circle Talks series that celebrates the acquisition of Working Library, a dialogic art project by Laura O’Quin and Rory Sparks. Over the next several months we will invite artists, curators, and arts administrators to lead conversations about the evolution of socially engaged artworks and how they expand the public discourse around what art can be and how it is valued. All Circle Talks events are free and open to the public.
